Easy ways to start a bonfire!!

day at home 044

Ever since we were little, my dad has taught us that,

1. Fire is not to be played with and matches are not toys.

and

2. How to start a fire.

So I’m going to tell you how to start a good bonfire.

  1. Clear a good spot away from tree’s, (unless your campsite has a pit) in this case we had a hole dug, from earlier when we tried to make a pond, but that’s another story.
  2. Gather lot’s of wood, logs, twigs(as tinder), and paper if you have it.
  3. Lay down a good layer of paper, perhaps, 30 pages/papers crumpled up into loose balls. Then lay a lot of your smallest twigs on the paper. Strike a match or whatever you have, and let ‘er rip!

TIP: As your fire get’s bigger add on your wood to the fire, if you wish to make your fire bigger, you may need to get more wood!

During the bonfire my family thought I did a really good job getting a blazing fire goin’. It was so big we had to move back a couple of feet. Once we had a fire going, we played games in the dark like, flashlight tag, or spotlight (which is similar to flashlight tag), and my dad sat with us and told us stories about things he did with fire as a child :0

All in all it was awesome!

Family

family pictures 097

It was great to have Garrett home. He takes after my Dad and is a great story teller. He told me some hilarious tales about being in the Marines. Next Tuesday we get to go to his wedding in Washington. Gavin, my older brother, hopes they have a chocolate fountain. I do too….tee hee :-)

For the trip my Marmee downloaded some Jonathan Park audio stories for my MP3 player. I like them because I learn a lot of scientific facts about creation, God, ancient artifacts and animals.

I like our new family picture. See me in my cool shades? It took us a while to get this just right.  I’m holding my younger sister, Gaela.

We started school last week. This year my Father is teaching us History and Science. He is a funny teacher. Of course my Marmee and I seem to laugh our heads off at no apparent reason too…. tee hee :-)

I like science better because science goes BOOM!  tee hee :-)

Family fun

Garretts visit 041

A  few days later we had a campfire. During Garrett’s stay

Garrett took us to Wal-mart, spent time with us ect.

Having him here was strange…at first then, again, I think it was strange for all of us.

Just reunited
