Ever since we were little, my dad has taught us that,
1. Fire is not to be played with and matches are not toys.
and
2. How to start a fire.
So I’m going to tell you how to start a good bonfire.
- Clear a good spot away from tree’s, (unless your campsite has a pit) in this case we had a hole dug, from earlier when we tried to make a pond, but that’s another story.
- Gather lot’s of wood, logs, twigs(as tinder), and paper if you have it.
- Lay down a good layer of paper, perhaps, 30 pages/papers crumpled up into loose balls. Then lay a lot of your smallest twigs on the paper. Strike a match or whatever you have, and let ‘er rip!
TIP: As your fire get’s bigger add on your wood to the fire, if you wish to make your fire bigger, you may need to get more wood!
During the bonfire my family thought I did a really good job getting a blazing fire goin’. It was so big we had to move back a couple of feet. Once we had a fire going, we played games in the dark like, flashlight tag, or spotlight (which is similar to flashlight tag), and my dad sat with us and told us stories about things he did with fire as a child :0
All in all it was awesome!
